Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Description and Operation
Measuring Core-Volume Air Flow Sensor:
When air is passed through the Measuring Core-Volume Air Flow (MC-VAF) sensor, the measuring core moves parallel to the direction of air flow through the sensor. Core movement changes resistance through a potentiometer, providing a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that is calculated as air flow volume. The voltage signal is used to determine fuel injection quantities.
