Fuel System Depressurization
WARNING: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. To avoid injury or fire, release the fuel pressure from the fuel system before disconnecting any fuel line.TO RELEASE THE PRESSURE FROM THE SYSTEM:
1. Start the engine.
2. To stop the fuel pump, disconnect the fuel pump relay.
3. After the engine stalls, turn off the ignition.
4. Install the fuel pump relay.
5. Use a rag as protection from the fuel spray and disconnect the fuel hoses. Plug the hoses after disconnection.
6. Before testing or starting the vehicle, prime the system by grounding the fuel pump test pin and turning the key ON for 10 seconds.
7. Check for fuel leaks.
8. Turn the key OFF and remove ground.
