Fuel Injector: Description and Operation
Fuel Injector:
The fuel injectors are electro-mechanical devices which supply metered and atomized fuel to the engine. The amount of fuel supplied to the engine is controlled by how long the injector coil is energized (pulse width). The powertrain control module controls the pulse width according to inputs received from the various engine sensors and switches. When the fuel injectors are energized, the needle valve is pulled off its seat. Fuel is then injected into the intake port.
