Distributor Cap: Service and Repair

Distributor:

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Engine Air Cleaner Intake Tube:

2. Remove the three engine air cleaner intake tube nuts.
3. Loosen the engine air cleaner tube clamp located on the front of the engine air cleaner and slide it forward to allow removal of the engine air cleaner intake tube.
4. Remove the engine air cleaner intake tubes from the vehicle.
5. Remove the distributor to spark plug wires from the distributor cap.

Distributor and Related Components:

6. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the distributor.
7. Remove the three distributor cap screws and the distributor cap.
8. Remove the distributor cap gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the distributor cap gasket.
2. Align and install the distributor cap and the three screws.
3. Connect the two distributor electrical connectors.
4. Install the distributor-to-spark plug wire ends on the distributor cap.
5. Align the engine air cleaner intake tube and slide it into the engine air cleaner opening.
6. Slide the engine air cleaner tube clamp into position and tighten securely.
7. Install the three engine air cleaner intake tube nuts and tighten to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb in).
8. Connect the battery ground cable.
