Suspension Control ( Automatic - Electronic ): Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe semi-active ride control will adjust shock absorber damping as required by the driving situation.
OPERATION
The system operates as follows:
^ The semi-active ride control system is active with the ignition switch in the RUN position.
^ The electronically adjustable shock absorbers are normally set to the soft position.
^ The Semi-Active Ride Control (SARC) Module monitors suspension velocity.
^ Suspension velocity is determined by the two air suspension height sensors.
^ When suspension velocity reaches a predetermined threshold, the SARC Module will shift the individual electronically adjustable shock absorbers to the "firm" position to restrict suspension motion.
^ The SARC Module will also shift the electronically adjustable shock absorbers to the firm position based on suspension velocity to improve vehicle handling.
VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL INPUT
The SARC Module monitors the vehicle speed signal that is generated by the anti-lock brake system.
