Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove muffler.
3. Remove three-way catalytic converter retaining bolts, Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC), exhaust converter outlet gasket and nuts from exhaust system flex tube.
4. Discard exhaust converter outlet gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Loosely install three way catalytic converter to exhaust system flex tube using a new exhaust converter outlet gasket.
2. Install muffler.
3. Align exhaust system. Make sure muffler and three way catalytic converter are fully engaged. Tighten all nuts and bolts, starting at front of system, to specification. Tighten the three-way catalytic converter retaining bolts to 34-46 Nm (25-33 ft. lbs.), tighten exhaust clamp nuts to 34-46 Nm (25-33 ft. lbs.).
4. Check system for exhaust leaks.
5. Lower vehicle.
