Hood Scoop - Loose or Detached

BODY - HOOD SCOOP LOOSE OR DETACHED FROM HOOD

ISSUE
The hood scoop may come loose causing the hood scoop to detach from hood on some vehicles. This may be caused by loose attaching fasteners on the hood.
ACTION
Install new hood scoop and adhesive to ensure that hood scoop is bonded to the hood. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
After obtaining the service kit 1R3Z-16C830-CPTM which contains the new hood scoop, 2 retaining washers, spatula, alcohol wipe, 75 ML tube of adhesive, and static mixing tip with static mixing element (Figure 1). Use the following procedure to replace hood scoop.
1. Paint new hood scoop.
2. Open hood and remove hood blanket.
3. Remove original hood scoop, clean surface of hood and wipe with enclosed alcohol wipe.
4. Lightly scuff hood scoop locator pins with sandpaper.
5. Apply adhesive on front edge of hood scoop and on retaining washers as shown in Figure 2.
6. Apply adhesive to front and rear locator pins as show in Figures 4 and 5.
7. Apply adhesive onto neck of locator pins.
8. Remove red release paper from butyl adhesive tape and place hood scoop onto hood (Figure 5).
9. On underside of hood place adhesive around locator pins (Figure 4).
10. Using a deep socket wrench, press push nut retaining washers onto locator pins until hood scoop is fully secure and flush against the hood.
11. Apply adhesive onto both push nuts until they are entirely covered with adhesive (Figure 3).
12. Keep vehicle movement to a minimum for the next 24 hours to allow the adhesive to gel and cure. In addition, do not wash car for the next 24 hours.
LABOR CLAIMING EXAMPLE
2000 Mustang - Dealer is replacing hood scoop.
Dealer would claim operations as follows:
^ 011704AA (0.4) - Time to replace hood scoop
^ 011704AAP (0.9) - Additional time to paint hood scoop
^ 011704P101 (0.5) - Basic paint operation (once per visit)
Material allowance is calculated only on the paint labor time (011704P101, 011704AAP. Total the paint labor time, multiply time X $14.75 for the total material allowance. Use (PAINT) as the causal part for claiming material allowance.

This repair would pay 1.8 hours (0.4 + 0.9 + 0.5 = 1.8) for the total job plus 1.4 hours (0.9 + 0.5 = 1.4 hrs) for the material allowance.
