ISSUE
A "creaking" noise from the LH rear quarter area when going over bumps may be heard on some vehicles. This may be due to contact between the inner rocker panel and the outer wheelhouse of the LH rear quarter area.
ACTION
Pull the wheelhouse from rocker panel. Refer to following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the left rear wheel.
2. Drill two (2) holes using a 1/8" drill bit into the wheelhouse (approximately 25 mm (1") above the lower flange and 25 mm (1") outboard of the wheelhouse seam).
3. Using a dent puller, pull the wheelhouse metal away from the rocker panel (Figure 1).
4. Redrive vehicle to make sure concern is repaired.
5. If concern is still present, repeat Steps 2-4 with two (2) more holes approximately 19 mm (3/4") outboard of the wheelhouse seam. Do not drill more than a total of tour (4) holes.
6. Spray over the holes with Super Seal Anti-Corrosion Compound (F3AZ-19515-SA or equivalent meeting Ford Specification ESR-M7C54-A).
