Selector Plate

Disassembly

1. Note: Mark the position of the shifter forks.

Position the gearshift selector plates and the gear selector interlock sleeve in the neutral position. The gearshift selector plates should be centered over the transmission selector arm and support.

2. Rotate the main control shaft counterclockwise, pull the main control shaft rearward and remove the main control shaft roll pin.

3. Using a twisting motion, remove the main shift control shaft.

4. Remove the gear shifter forks, roll pin and gear selector interlock sleeve.

5. Remove the O-ring seal.

Assembly

1. Install a new O-ring seal.

2. Assemble the gear shifter forks.
1 Install the selector arm plate into the gear shifter fork.
2 Install the shift fork inserts.

3. Note: The narrow side of the C-shaped gear selector interlock sleeve has to be positioned in the case cover slot. The control selector arm roll pin hole has to be toward the rear of the cover.

Install the transmission selector lever arm and support, and the selector interlock plate, as an assembly.

4. Note: The 1-2 gear shifter fork is the larger shifter fork. The gear shifter fork offset lever is to face of the cover. The 3-4 gearshift selector arm plate is to be positioned under the 1-2 gear shift selector arm plate.

Position the gear shifter forks in the cover. Lubricate the main shift control shaft with petroleum jelly. Slide the shaft through the cover and shift the components until the shaft stops against the cover.

5. CAUTION: Make sure the roll pin is installed slightly below the transmission selector lever arm and support surface. Failure to countersink the roll pin may result in interference between the pin and the gear selector interlock sleeve during shifts.

Install the transmission selector lever arm and roll pin. Make sure the flat on the shifter shaft is facing upward .
