Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

CAUTION: To prevent refrigerant system contamination, if you are installing a new A/C compressor because the compressor has failed internally, you must carry out the following procedures:
- If A/C flusher is available, carry out the Flushing. Air Conditioning System Flushing
- If A/C flusher is not available, carry out the Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Component Replacement. Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Component Replacement
- Install a new A/C evaporator core orifice.

1. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
2. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Battery.







3. Unlatch the air breather.







4. Disconnect the mass airflow sensor electrical connector.







5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
1. Loosen the clamp.
2. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube assembly.

6. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Belts and Accessories.







7. Disconnect the electrical connector.







8. Remove the bolt and the A/C manifold and tube.







9. Remove the bolts and the A/C compressor.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the new A/C compressor with the correct amount of PAG Compressor Oil, YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with PAG Compressor Oil, YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
