NOTESOME VEHICLES HAY HAVE HAD THE PCM REPROGRAMMED PREVIOUSLY. ON THESE VEHICLES, VERIFY CALIBRATION USING APPROPRIATE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the latest calibration listed in the table as shown using one of the following two (2) methods:
^ Worldwide Diagnostic system (WDS). Use WDS release level B9.3 or later.
^ Service Bay Technical System (SBTS) and the New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester with Rotunda flash cable (007-00531) and Rotunda flash card (007-00532). Use R00OCT CD for Fordstar Dealers and Early Release November 2000 Pre-Release 1 CD available through Renkim for non-Fordstar Dealers.
NOTE:
During the reprogram, you may be required by WDS/NGS to enter tire size and axle ratio information. All Taurus Flexible Fuel Vehicles use 3.77 axle ratio (3.47 final drive ratio). Use 797 for TIRE SIZE and 3.47 for FINAL DRIVE RATIO.
2. Obtain and prepare the Authorized Modifications Label. Write the modification completed, your P&A Code, date of repair and the program type and program number as shown.
3. Apply label to clear area of the upper radiator support.
4. Notify customer of PCM re-flash service.
