ISSUE

Some 2003-2004 Mustang Mach 1 may exhibit a rattle type noise from the Hood Scoop (Shaker) area. The noise may occur at any engine RPM and/or during acceleration or deceleration.

ACTION

To service, install revised Hood Scoop Isolators (four), part number (2L7Z-9P686-AA). Refer to the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the Hood Scoop per the Workshop Manual (Section 303-12).

2. Place the Hood Scoop upside down on the workbench.

NOTE
PLACE HOOD SCOOP ON A CLOTH TO PREVENT SCRATCHING OR MARRING OF THE FINISH.

3. Remove the four (4) isolators by grasping with your fingers and pulling up and towards the center of the isolator (Figure 1).

4. Install new Isolators (2L7Z-9P686-M) by setting the isolator in the hole at an angle (Figure 2) and pressing down, while working the outer edge of the isolator down into the hole with your fingers.
