Front Fender: Service and Repair
FENDERRemoval
1. Remove the front bumper cover.
2. Remove the headlamp assembly.
3. On the RH side, remove the windshield washer reservoir.
4. Remove the fender splash shield.
- Remove the screws.
5. Remove the 3 upper fender bolts.
6. Remove the seal.
7. Remove the inner fender bolts.
8. Remove the inner fender bolt.
- Open the front door half way.
9. Remove the bolt and the fender.
Installation
1. NOTE: The vehicle must be standing on level ground. The door must be fully closed with uniform clearances with the A-pillar, the rear side door and the body rocker panel.
Install the fender.
- Install the fender and insert all the bolts fingertight.
- Check and adjust the clearance and the edge alignment with the door: 2.5 - 5.5 mm (0.09 - 0.21 in).
- Tighten the rear upper bolt.
2. Position the fender.
- Tighten the front bolt on the edge of the fender apron panel.
- Close the hood carefully.
- Adjust the clearance between the fender and the hood, open the hood and tighten the front bolt on the edge of the fender.
- Clearance between the fender and the hood: 2.5 - 5.5 mm (0.09 - 0.21 in).
- Clearance between the fender and the door: 2.5 - 5.5 mm (0.09 - 0.21 in).
- Adjust the edge alignment with the door.
- Tighten the bolt in the A-pillar from the wheelhouse.
- Check the width of the clearance with the door and tighten the lower bolts in the body rocker panel.
3. Tighten the 3 upper fender bolts.
- Check all the clearances and tighten the bolts.
4. Open the front door half way and tighten the upper fender bolt.
5. Tighten the inner fender bolts.
6. Tighten the fender bolt.
7. Install the seal.
8. Install the headlamp assembly.
9. On the RH side, install the windshield washer reservior.
10. Adjust the hood bump stop rubbers (left-hand shown).
11. Install the fender splash shield.
- Install the screws.
12. Install the front bumper cover.
