INSTRUMENT PANEL

Removal
1. Remove the steering wheel.
2. Remove the LH front splash shield.







3. Disconnect the bulkhead electrical connectors.
- Loosen the bolts.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Position the connectors through the dash panel.







4. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel trim panel.







5. Remove the LH and RH windshield side garnish moulding.







6. Disconnect the audio antenna connector.
7. Remove the driver seat.







8. Position aside the instrument panel lower panel.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Release the fastener.







9. Disconnect the hood release cable and the data link connector (DLC) from the instrument panel lower panel and remove the instrument panel lower panel.







10. Remove the LH and RH lower A-pillar trim panels.
- Remove the pin-type retainer.

11. Remove the transmission selector lever.







12. Remove the restraint control module (RCM).
1 Disconnect the electrical connectors.
2 Remove the bolts.







13. Release the locators and position the floor console wiring harness aside.







14. Remove the 2 screws and the lower center trim panel.







15. Disconnect the 2 climate control cables from the housing.







16. Disconnect the intermediate shaft.
1 Remove and discard the pinch bolt.
2 Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering gear.







17. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
1 Disconnect the speed control deactivation switch electrical connector (if equipped).
2 Disconnect the stop lamp switch electrical connector.
3 Disconnect the clutch position switch electrical connector (if equipped).







18. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
1 Remove the ground bolt.
2 Loosen the bulkhead electrical connector bolt.
3 Disconnect the bulkhead electrical connectors.







19. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.







20. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
1 Remove the ground bolt.
2 Disconnect the electrical connectors.

21. Open the glove compartment to the full open position.







22. Disconnect the generic electronic module (GEM) electrical connectors.







23. Disconnect the blend door motor electrical connector.







24. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel floor bracket bolts and the floor brackets.

CAUTION: When removing the instrument panel retainers, care must be taken to prevent damage to the instrument panel and windshield.







25. Remove the instrument panel upper retaining clips.
1 Install the M6 x 100 mm bolt.
2 Using a suitable tool, remove the retaining clips by lifting upward on the bolt head to release the retaining clips from the dash panel.







26. Open the cap and remove the instrument panel cowl-side bolt.







27. NOTE: An assistant is required to carry out this procedure.

Remove the 3 LH and 3 RH instrument panel cowl bolts and the instrument panel through the driver door opening.

Installation







1. NOTE: An assistant is required to carry out this procedure.

Position the instrument panel and install the 3 LH and 3 RH instrument panel cowl bolts.







2. Install the instrument panel cowl side bolt and close the cap.
3. Install the instrument panel upper retaining clips.







4. Position the LH and RH instrument panel floor brackets and install the bolts.
5. Open the glove compartment to the full open position.







6. Connect the GEM electrical connectors.







7. Connect the blend door motor electrical connector.







8. Connect the blower motor electrical connector.







9. Connect the electrical connectors.
- Install the ground bolt.







10. Connect the electrical connectors.
1 Connect the speed control deactivation switch electrical connector (if equipped).
2 Connect the stop lamp switch electrical connector.
3 Connect the clutch position switch electrical connector (if equipped).







11. Connect the electrical connectors.
1 Connect the bulkhead electrical connector and tighten the bolt.
2 Install the ground bolt.







12. Connect the 2 climate control cables to the housing.







13. WARNING: Install a new steering column pinch bolt. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.

Connect the intermediate shaft and install a new pinch bolt.







14. Position the lower center trim panel and install the 4 screws.







15. Position the floor console wiring harness.







16. NOTE: The RCM is grounded by the retaining bolts.

Position the RCM.
1 Install the bolts.
2 Connect the electrical connectors.







17. Connect the hood release cable and the DLC to the instrument panel lower panel and position the instrument panel lower panel.
18. Install the floor shifter.







19. Position the bulkhead electrical connectors through the dash panel.







20. Connect the audio antenna connector.







21. Install the LH and RH lower A-pillar trim panel.
- Install the pin-type retainer.







22. Position the instrument panel lower panel and install the bolts.
23. Install the driver seat.
24. Install the steering wheel.







25. Install the LH and RH windshield side garnish moulding.







26. Install the LH and RH instrument panel trim panel.







27. Connect the bulkhead electrical connectors.
- Tighten the bolts.

28. Install the LH front splash shield.
