POWER DOOR LOCKS CYCLING OR SELF LOCKING

FORD:
2003-2005 Focus

ISSUE
Some 2003-2005 Focus vehicles equipped with power door locks, may exhibit the door locks cycling or self locking.

NOTE IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE AUTOLOCK FUNCTION REFER TO THE OWNER GUIDE OR WORKSHOP MANUAL FOR AUTOLOCK OPERATION INFORMATION BEFORE CONTINUING WITH THIS TSB. AUTOMATIC LOCKING IS NORMAL UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES AND SERVICE MAY NOT BE REQUIRED.

ACTION
Inspect and clean the door latch connectors. Pack the door latch connectors with dielectric grease. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE
THIS PROCEDURE APPLIES TO THE SIDE DOORS ONLY. INSPECTION OF THE REAR HATCH OR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID IS NOT NECESSARY.

1. Disconnect and inspect all door latch connections for moisture or corrosion. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 501-14.

2. Clean the connectors as necessary.

3. Pack the door latch side of the door latch connectors approximately 1/4 full with Motorcraft Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound (XG-3-A).

4. Reconnect all door latch connections.
