Gearshift CablesRemoval and Installation
1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the battery tray.
3. Disconnect the gearshift cables from the transaxle.
1. Press the locking tab, then detach the shift cable from the shift lever.
2. Press the locking tab, then detach the selector cable from the selector lever.
4. Disconnect the gearshift cables from the bracket.
1. Detach the shift cable from the retaining bracket by turning the abutment sleeve counterclockwise.
2. Detach the selector cable from the retaining bracket by turning the abutment sleeve counterclockwise.
5. Remove the floor console.
6. Remove the center armrest brace.
7. Remove the rear footwell heating duct.
8. Remove the 4 center console trim panel bolts, and the center console trim panel.
9. Remove the RH lower instrument panel trim panel.
10. Remove the 2 lower heater case duct bolts, then remove the two-piece lower heater case duct.
11. Disconnect the gearshift and selector cables from the gearshift lever.
1. Carefully pry the gearshift cables from the gearshift levers.
2. Detach the gearshift and selector cables by twisting the abutment collar clockwise.
12. Cut the insulation and fold it to one side.
13. Detach the cable housing from the floor.
14. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
15. Disconnect the heat shield.
16. Disconnect the exhaust flange and remove it from the rubber insulators.
17. Disconnect the center exhaust hanger. Lower the exhaust system and support it with wire.
18. Remove the gearshift cables.
^ Pull the cables through to the interior.
19. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Using duct tape, cover the cut in the insulation.
^ Adjust the gearshift and selector cables.
