Exhaust System: Service and Repair
Exhaust System Alignment1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Loosen the muffler to muffler inlet pipe clamp(s).
3. Remove and discard the muffler inlet pipe to converter assembly Torca coupling and position a new coupling on the pipe. Do not tighten the coupling at this time.
4. Remove and discard the converter to manifold nuts and install new nuts. Do not tighten the nuts at this time.
5. Beginning at the front of the vehicle, align the exhaust system. Make sure all fit pipes are pushed all the way into the preceding pipe and the notches are correctly lined up with the tabs.
6. Tighten all fasteners in the following order.
1 Alternately tighten, in 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) increments, the RH catalytic converter to manifold nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
2 Alternately tighten, in 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) increments, the LH catalytic converter to manifold nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
3 Tighten the muffler to muffler inlet pipe clamp(s) to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
4 Tighten the muffler inlet pipe to converter assembly coupling(s) to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
7. Start the engine and check the exhaust system for leaks.
