Antenna, Radio: Description and Operation

ANTENNA

The antenna system consists of the following:
- Antenna mast
- Antenna base
- Antenna upper cable
- Antenna lead-in cable

The antenna receives AM and FM radio waves. The radio waves are sent to the audio unit through the radio antenna lead-in cable.

The fixed mast antenna is mounted to the roof. The antenna is connected to the audio unit by an antenna cable routed down the A-pillar and under the sound deadening panel.

The antenna lead-in cable is not removable from the wiring harness. If a new lead-in cable is being installed, leave it in the wiring harness. Install a new cable on top of the instrument panel wiring harness and secure it with wire ties. Do not cut into the wiring harness to remove the existing antenna lead-in cable. Tie back or insulate the old cable ends to keep them from causing noise.
