ANTI-THEFT - PERIMETER

The perimeter anti-theft system provides an audible and visual notification of unauthorized entry into the vehicle, and is controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM).

System Arming

Using the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter
The system is armed after 20 seconds by the RKE transmitter when the following input sequence is followed:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the key.
2. Close all the doors (unlocked).

3. NOTE: If the turn signal lamps do not flash, the system is not armed.

Press the LOCK button on the RKE transmitter to lock the doors. The turn signal lamps flash once.

Using the door lock cylinder
The system is also armed when the following input sequence is followed:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the key.
2. Close all the doors (unlocked).
3. Lock the doors using the mechanical key.

Using the door lock control switch
The system can be armed by locking the doors using the door lock control switch while the door is opened and then closing the door.

Disarming an Untriggered System
The system can be disarmed by carrying out one of the following procedures:
- Unlock a front door with a key.
- Unlock the driver door by pressing the UNLOCK button of the RKE transmitter.

System Triggering
When the system is triggered, the system flashes the turn signal lamps, and sounds the horn.

When armed, unauthorized entry into the vehicle without the use of a key or RKE transmitter is detected by a switch being triggered in the door latch, liftgate latch, luggage compartment lid latch, or hood latch.

The anti-theft system does not activate if the liftgate or luggage compartment is opened using the key or RKE transmitter due to an inhibit switch.

Disarming a Triggered System
Carrying out either of the following steps disarms the triggered anti-theft system:
- Unlock the driver front door with a key.
- Press the UNLOCK button on the RKE transmitter.

When the system is triggered, the horn shuts off automatically after 30 seconds and the turn signal lamps shut off automatically after 5 minutes. The system then resets to an armed state and triggers again if another intrusion occurs.
