PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONPerimeter Anti-theft
When the generic electronic module (GEM) receives a signal from a monitored switch indicating intrusion into the vehicle, the GEM supplies a ground signal to the horn control relay and voltage to the hazard warning/turn signal lamps. The horn relay closes, supplying voltage to the horn. The GEM cycles the output to the horn relay and voltage to the lamps, on and off, while the system is activated. The perimeter anti-theft feature does not arm until 20 seconds elapses after locking the vehicle. The perimeter anti-theft device disarms when an unlock request is made through the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. The perimeter anti-theft device also disarms if the driver door is unlocked with a key.
