Heater Core Case: Service and Repair


HEATER CORE AND EVAPORATOR CORE HOUSING






Removal and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Vehicle Lifting
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant
3. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Moulding/Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Service and Repair

4. Drain the cooling system. Service and Repair






5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the heater core.






6. Detach and position aside the power steering reservoir.






7. Disconnect the evaporator inlet and outlet fittings.
- Discard the O-ring seals.






8. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing nut at the dash panel.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).






9. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing nut at the dash panel.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).






10. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing nut.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).






11. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing nut.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

12. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing.
13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. Refrigerant Oil
14. Fill the engine cooling system. Service and Repair
15. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. Component Tests and General Diagnostics
