Accessories and Optional Equipment: Description and Operation

INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM

Audio Line-Up
The following audio systems are available:
- Base
- AM/FM/Single CD

- Premium
- AM/FM/6-CD in-dash changer

- Audiophile
- AM/FM/6-CD in-dash changer
- Includes subwoofer

The following features are also available:
- Satellite audio system
- Available with all audio systems

- SYNC
- Available on certain vehicle trim levels

- Audio input jack
- Standard on all vehicles

- Steering wheel controls
- Available on certain vehicle trim levels

Front Display Interface Module (FDIM)
The FDIM, located at the top center of the instrument panel, displays the following information:
- Audio information
- This includes information from the satellite audio system (if equipped) and SYNC (if equipped)

- Compass heading (if equipped)

The FDIM is a stand-alone module that communicates via the medium speed controller area network (MS-CAN).

Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM)
The FCIM acts as the customer interface with the audio control module (ACM). It resembles a faceplate, and is standard on all audio systems. The FCIM is a stand-alone module that communicates via the MS-CAN.

Antenna
All vehicles utilize a fixed-mast antenna for AM/FM reception. The antenna is located at the rear of the roof.

If the vehicle is equipped with satellite audio, a combination AM/FM/satellite radio antenna is utilized. It is mounted in the same location as the standard AM/FM antenna.

Speakers
All vehicles are equipped with 4 speakers. Sedans are equipped with 4 door-mounted speakers, while coupes are equipped with 2 door-mounted speakers, and 2 speakers mounted in the quarter panels.

In addition to the 4 standard speakers, the Audiophile system includes a subwoofer, mounted in the LH side of the luggage compartment.

Satellite Audio
The satellite audio system is comprised of the following:
- Satellite digital audio receiver system (SDARS) module, located in the LH side of the luggage compartment
- Satellite radio antenna (part of the combination AM/FM/satellite radio antenna)
- Satellite radio antenna cable

The satellite radio antenna receives digital audio signals and sends them to the SDARS module, where the signals are converted to analog and sent to the ACM.

SYNC
The SYNC system is comprised of the following:
- Accessory protocol interface module (APIM), located behind the right instrument panel trim panel
- SYNC-specific steering wheel controls
- Microphone, located in the rear view mirror
- Universal serial bus (USB) port, located at the junction between the instrument panel and the center console
- Audio input jack, located at the junction between the instrument panel and the center console

SYNC is a hands-free communications and entertainment system that allows the following interactions:
- Send and receive phone calls via a Bluetooth(R)-enabled phone
- Send and receive text messages via a Bluetooth(R)-enabled phone
- Connect media devices (such as an iPod(R) or USB flash device) in order to play audio files
- Play media files via a Bluetooth(R)-enabled audio device

Not all features are available with every phone.
