Warning Chimes
Warning Chimes
NOTE: The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is also known as the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).
The warning chimes provide the driver with an audible warning that acts as a supplemental alert. The only deviation from this strategy is the air bag chime which alerts the driver that the primary alerting system does not operate. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) controls all warning chimes based on hardwired inputs and network messages received from external modules.
The warning chime system consists of the following:
- IPC
- Restraints Control Module (RCM)
- Key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch)
- SJB
The following chimes are controlled by the IPC:
- Air bag warning
- Belt-Minder(R)
- Door ajar
- Headlamps on
- Key-in-ignition
- Message center
- MyKey(TM) speed
- Park brake warning
- Perimeter alarm
- Performance shift chime (GT500 only)
- Safety belt warning
- Service Advance Trac(R)
- Turn signal/hazard (tick-tock)
- Turn signal left on
