ISSUE
Some 2011 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine and built on or after 8/17/2010 may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with one or more of the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory: P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308, PO5OE, or P2610.

ACTION
Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 73.04 or later. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

NOTE
PLEASE ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVER SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
