Accessories and Optional Equipment: Description and Operation




Information and Entertainment System

Functional Components

The functional components of the audio system are:

- Audio Front Control Module (ACM)

- Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM)

- Front Display Interface Module (FDIM)

- Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM)

- Audio amplifier, located in the RH side of the luggage compartment (vehicles with navigation)

- Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) , located in the instrument panel (vehicles with the SYNC system but without navigation)

- Speakers (see Audio Line-Up for locations)

- Door subwoofer amplifiers (Shaker only)

- Luggage compartment subwoofer amplifier (Shaker 1000)

- Speaker enclosure (Shaker 1000)

- AM/FM antenna, located on the right rear quarter panel

- Satellite radio antenna, located on the luggage compartment lid

- Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna, integral to the satellite radio antenna (vehicles with navigation)

- AM/FM antenna cable (must be overlaid on the harness)

- Satellite radio antenna cable (must be overlaid on the harness)

- Universal Serial Bus (USB) port and cable, located on the inside front of the floor console stowage bin

- Audio input jack, located on the inside front of the floor console stowage bin

- Clockspring

- Auto-dimming interior mirror (contains the microphone)

Audio Line-Up

The vehicle is equipped with one of the following audio systems:

- Premium
- AM/FM Single CD ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- 4 speakers (1 in each door, 2 in the rear package tray (coupe only), or 1 in each quarter panel (convertible only))


- Shaker 500
- AM/FM Single CD with MP3 capabilities ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- Navigation ACM (Audio Front Control Module) with built-in single CD/DVD drive with HD radio (optional)

- 6 speakers (1 in each door and 1 subwoofer speaker in each door, 2 in the rear package tray (coupe only), or 1 in each quarter panel (convertible only))

- Subwoofer amplifier for each door


- Shaker 1000
- AM/FM Single CD with MP3 capabilities ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- 8 speakers (1 in each door and 1 subwoofer speaker in each door, 2 in the rear package tray (coupe only) or 1 in each quarter panel (convertible only), 2-speaker subwoofer enclosure in the luggage compartment)

- Subwoofer amplifier for each door

- Subwoofer amplifier for the luggage compartment speaker enclosure


The following options are also available:

- Satellite radio
- Provides satellite broadcast audio channels


- SYNC system
- Provides mobile phone and media device functionality with the vehicle audio system


Satellite Radio

The satellite radio system is comprised of the following:

- Satellite radio receiver built-in to the ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- Stand-alone satellite radio antenna (vehicles without navigation)

- Combination satellite radio/GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna (vehicles with navigation)

- Satellite radio antenna cables
- The satellite radio antenna cables connect the satellite radio antenna to the ACM (Audio Front Control Module). The satellite radio antenna cables are not removable from the wiring harness.


Navigation System

The navigation system consists of the following:

- Navigation ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna

- Satellite radio/GPS (Global Positioning System) splitter cable (part of the front satellite radio antenna cable)

- Microphone (integral to the auto-dimming interior mirror)

The ACM (Audio Front Control Module) controls the operation of the navigation system and the audio system. The system uses a GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna, a vehicle speed input, and other sensor information to accurately establish the vehicle position.

SYNC System

The SYNC system consists of the following:

- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)

- SYNC-specific steering wheel controls

- Microphone (integral to the auto-dimming interior mirror)

- USB (Universal Serial Bus) port and cable

- Audio input jack

SYNC is a hands-free communications and entertainment system that allows the following interactions:

- Send and receive phone calls via a Bluetooth-enabled phone

- Send and receive text messages via a Bluetooth-enabled phone

- Connect media devices (such as an iPod(R) or USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash device) in order to play audio files

- Play media files via a Bluetooth-enabled audio device

Not all features are available with every phone.

MyKey(R)

When a MyKey(R) restricted key is in use and the speed limiter is turned on, the speed compensated volume is disabled. When the speed limiter is turned off or an administrator key is used, the speed compensated volume is enabled.
