ISSUE
2012-2013 Mustang vehicles equipped with 3.7L engine and 2012 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.7L or 3.5L GTDI engine, and built on or between 1/6/2012 - 5/25/2012 may exhibit a chirping or squealing noise from the accessory drive belt during idle and acceleration.
ACTION
Follow the service procedure to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Determine vehicle build date.
a. Vehicle build date is on or between 1/6/2012 - 5/25/2012, proceed to Step 2.
b. Vehicle build date is not on or between 01/06/2012 - 05/25/2012, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-05 for normal diagnostics.
2. Replace accessory drive belt and accessory drive belt tensioner. Refer to WSM, Section 303-05.
