Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Defect and Vehicles Involved

DEFECT INVOLVED

General Motors has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in CERTAIN 1994 C/K Sierra models, C/K Suburbans, C/K Yukons, C35OOHD models, G Rally Vans, G Vandura Vans and G Magnavans. Some of these vehicles were built with a brake pedal pushrod retainer missing, mispositioned or not properly seated. This condition could cause the stop lamp switch and the brake booster pushrod to disconnect from the brake pedal, resulting in a loss of brake operation and a vehicle crash could occur without prior warning. To prevent this condition from occurring, dealers are to inspect all vehicles to assure the brake pedal retainer is secure and fully seated in the groove and can be rotated a full 360 degrees in both directions. Any vehicles found with missing or mispositioned retainers will require a new retainer to be installed. If there are any vehicles that have already been delivered, the dealer must contact the owner and arrange for the vehicle to be inspected and repaired as needed.
