Instrument Panel Pad/Cluster Replace

CLUSTER

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect hood release lever.
3. Remove lefthand lower dash trim panel screws and pull out trim, Fig. 6.
4. Disconnect speaker connector.
5. Remove A/C duct from lower A/C register, if equipped.
6. Remove lefthand lower trim panel.
7. Remove upper and lower steering column covers.
8. Remove center console trim panel screws and pull out trim.
9. Disconnect and remove cruise control/defogger and rear wiper/washer switches from trim panel.
10. Disconnect and remove cigar lighter lamp from trim panel.
11. Remove center trim panel.
12. Remove cluster bezel attaching screws.
13. Disconnect hazard flasher and dimmer switch electrical connections.
14. Remove cluster bezel.
15. Remove instrument cluster attaching screws.
16. Disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connectors from cluster.
17. Remove instrument cluster.
18. Reverse procedure to install.

INSTRUMENT PANEL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering wheel as outlined under STEERING SUSPENSION CHASSIS AND BODY COMPONENTS/STEERING/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES/STEERING WHEEL.
3. Remove instrument cluster as outlined under "CLUSTER" above.
4. Remove cup holder.
5. Remove radio as outlined under AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT/RADIO/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES/RADIO.
6. Remove glove box and trim assembly.
7. Remove four attaching screws from heater and A/C control unit.
8. Remove center console trim.
9. Remove five attaching bolts from instrument panel.
10. Disconnect three electrical connectors and relay unit on the lefthand side of instrument panel.
11. Disconnect the electrical connector on the righthand side of instrument panel.
12. Detach defroster duct retainers and remove instrument panel.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
