Refer to Figs. 190 through 192, when performing the following procedure.
1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. If equipped with center console, remove four attaching screws from the console box, Fig. 193.
4. Shift gear selector to the LOW position and gently pull outward at bottom of console box to disengage the two retaining pins.
5. Remove four attaching screws from cluster switch panel.
6. Disconnect front windshield wiper/washer switch and light/hazard flasher switch electrical connectors and remove cluster bezel and switch panel as an assembly.
7. Remove six attaching screws from cluster bezel and bezel from the switch panel.
8. Remove front wiper switch and light/hazard switch from the switch panel.
9. Remove four cluster housing mounting screws from the housing.
10. Disconnect two electrical connectors and speedometer cable from the rear of cluster housing.
11. Remove turn signal/dimmer switch.
12. Remove two mounting screws from heater control panel and disconnect blower switch electrical connector.
13. Remove hood latch release lever mounting screw and lever from instrument panel carrier assembly.
14. Remove two main instrument panel mounting screws from both the left and right sides of the main panel.
15. Remove four attaching screws from the instrument panel support member.
16. Remove two mounting screws from the heater control assembly.
17. Remove one attaching screw from rear of glove box upper panel.
18. Remove main instrument panel access cover and one attaching screw at each panel.
19. Remove both front speaker garnish covers, then remove one attaching screw at each speaker.
20. Remove two push pins from both left and right side kick panels and remove panels from vehicle.
21. Remove one attaching screw from instrument main panel behind each kick panel.
22. Disconnect both left and right side speaker connectors.
23. Disconnect all instrument panel switches; rheostat, rear wiper/washer, rear window defogger.
24. Disconnect instrument panel wiring harness from instrument panel carrier assembly.
25. Remove instrument panel carrier assembly from the vehicle.
26. Reverse procedure to install.
27. Reactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
