Cuts Out/Misses
DEFINITION: Steady pulsation or jerking that follows engine speed, usually more pronounced as engine load increases. Not normally felt above 1500 rpm or 30 mph (48 km/H). The exhaust has a steady spitting sound at idle or low speed.^ Carefully perform visual check.
^ Check for misfiring cylinder, spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil connection, etc.
^ Perform compression check to verify if problem is mechanical and not electrical.
^ Check EGR valve for sticking partly open.
^ Check ignition timing.
^ Check CAM timing.
