Compressor Replacement
Compressor Removal:
Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Connector for magnetic clutch and temperature switch.
^ Discharge refrigeration system.
3. Two hoses from compressor service valves.
NOTICE: Cap open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of system.
4. Compressor drive belt.
^ Raise vehicle.
5. Stone shield from underside of engine compartment.
6 Compressor mounting bolts and compressor (Figure 10).
Install or Connect
1. Compressor mounting bolts and compressor.
Tighten
^ Mounting bolts to: 25 N.m (18 lb.ft.).
2. Stone shield.
^ Lower vehicle.
3. Compressor drive belt.
4. Two hoses to compressor service valves.
NOTICE: Install new O-rings in fittings.
Tighten
^ Discharge line: 25 N.m (18 lb.ft.).
^ Suction line: 25 N.m (18 lb.ft.).
5. Magnetic clutch and temperature switch connectors.
6. Negative (-) battery cable.
7. Evacuate and charge A/C system.
8. Check compressor for proper operation and refrigerant leaks.
