Procedures

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect transaxle solenoids, neutral safety switch and speed sensor electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect speedometer cable.
5. Disconnect throttle cable from engine throttle body and retaining clamps.
6. Remove thermostat housing to transaxle case retaining bolt and nut.
7. Remove two top transaxle to engine bolts.
8. Disconnect battery ground cable from transaxle case.
9. Install engine support fixture tool No. J-28467-A or equivalent.
10. Raise and support vehicle, then drain fluid from transaxle.
11. Remove dust covers from crossmember.
12. Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
13. Remove front drive axles.
14. Remove front and rear mount retaining bolts, control cable clamp bolts and center crossmember.
15. Disconnect and cap oil cooler lines.
16. Disconnect front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
17. Remove shifter control cable to shift lever clip.
18. Remove shifter control cable bracket retaining bolts and set cable aside.
19. Remove starter and engine to transaxle support bracket.
20. Remove flywheel inspection cover and six torque converter bolts.
21. Remove left engine mount.
22. Place suitable transmission jack under transaxle and remove front and rear engine block to transaxle bolts, then remove transaxle.
23. Reverse procedure to install, refering to SPECIFICATIONS/MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS/TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS for proper bolt and nut torques.
