Handling of Refrigerant Lines and Fittings

Tighten all fittings to specifications.

NOTICE:
^ Do not bend flexible hose lines to such a degree that they become kinked.
^ Flexible hose lines should never be allowed to come within 64 cm (2.5 in.) of the exhaust manifold.
^ Flexible hose lines should be inspected regularly for leaks or brittleness and replaced if such deterioration is found
^ When disconnecting any fitting in the A/C system, the system must first be discharged of all Refrigerant-12. Proceed very cautiously regardless of gage readings. Open very slowly, keeping hands and face away to avoid injury if there happens to be liquid still in the lines. If pressure is noticed when fittings are loosened, allow it to bleed off slowly.
^ When tightening connecting lines apply a few drops of compressor oil to O-ring seals to prevent leakage of refrigerant.
^ Tighten nuts using two wrenches to avoid twisting the tubes.

CAUTION: Should Refrigerant-12 contact your eyes consult a physician immediately.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE YOUR HANDS TO RUB AFFECTED EYE(S). Instead, use large quantities of fresh water to gradually raise the temperature of the affected area above freezing.

CAUTION: Should Refrigerant-12 touch skin, the injury should be treated the same as skin which has been frostbitten or frozen.
