Preliminary Information
When servicing the compressor, keep dirt or foreign material from getting on or into the compressor parts and system. Clean tools and a clean work area are important for proper service. The compressor connections should be cleaned before any service procedures are performed. The compressor and its components must be kept clean at all times and any parts which are to be reassembled should be cleaned with Trichloroethane, naphtha, kerosene or an equivalent solvent and air dried. Use only lint-free cloths to wipe parts. The operations described here are based on bench overhaul with the compressor removed from the vehicle. When the compressor is removed from the vehicle for servicing, the oil remaining in the compressor should be drained, measured and discarded. New refrigerant oil (GM # 12345762) should then be added when the overhaul is completed.
All repair procedures for this compressor must be performed after the refrigerant has been discharged and recovered from the A/C system and the compressor assembly has been removed from the vehicle.
