1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable. After disconnecting battery, wait 10 minutes before proceeding with removal procedure. The Energy Reserve Module in the DERM may maintain SIR system voltage for a period after the battery is disconnected.
3. Pull out on switch bezel, Fig. 205, then disconnect electrical connectors and remove bezel.
4. Pull out on cigar lighter bezel, then disconnect cigar lighter electrical connector and remove bezel, Fig. 205.
5. Remove two hood release retaining screws, then disconnect hood release cable, Fig. 206.
6. Remove knee bezel retaining screws and nuts.
7. Remove two glove box hinge pins, then the glove box.
8. Remove front console mounting bracket.
9. Remove two meter hood hole covers, Fig. 207.
10. Remove four meter hood retaining screws.
11. Disconnect lighting and windshield wiper switch electrical connectors.
12. Remove meter hood and meter assembly.
13. Remove front cover hole covers, Fig. 208.
14. Remove three bolts and two screws from front cover assembly, then the front cover.
15. Remove four bolts, two screws and one nut attaching instrument panel assembly.
16. Remove electrical harness to instrument panel retaining clips.
17. Remove instrument panel assembly.
18. Reverse procedure to install.
19. Reactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
