Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Description and Operation
KF 400
The KF 400 is a 3-speed automatic transaxle. Power is transferred from the output gear through the ring gear to the idler gear.
The output gear, idler gear and differential gear case are supported by tapered roller bearings. The preload on the roller bearings can be adjusted by using shims.
The final drive gear is a helical type design.
JF403E
The JF403E is a 4-speed automatic transaxle. This transaxle utilizes a microcomputer as a control unit to evaluate driving conditions including throttle opening and vehicle speed.
This transaxle also incorporates a shift mode change control. The economy mode (ECON switch ON) is suitable for economical driving. The normal mode (ECON switch OFF) is suitable for hill climbing and/or acceleration.
