Audible Warning Device: Description and Operation

IGNITION KEY WARNING ALARM

Battery voltage is applied at all times through the TAIL Fuse to the IGNITION KEY WARNING SWITCH. When the ignition key is inserted into the ignition cylinder, the IGNITION KEY WARNING SWITCH is closed, and a voltage signal is provided to the AUDIO ALARM MODULE. If the LH door is opened, the LH DOOR JAMB SWITCH closes and provides a ground signal to the AUDIO ALARM MODULE. When these two signals are received simultaneously, the AUDIO ALARM MODULE activates the high-frequency ignition key warning alarm. The AUDIO ALARM MODULE will not activate the alarm if it receives an ignition ON signal from the IG Fuse while the ignition key is in the ignition cylinder and the LH door is open.

SEAT BELT WARNING ALARM (Convertible)

The AUDIO ALARM MODULE receives an ignition ON signal (in the form of battery voltage) through the IG Fuse whenever the ignition switch is in the "ON" or "START" position. If the driver's seat belt is not buckled, a ground signal is provided to the AUDIO ALARM MODULE through the LH SEAT BELT SWITCH from G203. When the AUDIO ALARM MODULE receives an ignition ON signal and a ground signal through LH SEAT BELT SWITCH simultaneously, the AUDIO ALARM MODULE activates the constant seat belt warning alarm.

HEADLIGHT WARNING ALARM

The headlight warning alarm will sound if the Light Switch is in the PARK or HEAD position, the LH door is open and the ignition key has been removed. Voltage is applied at all times through the TAIL Fuse to the Light Switch. When the Light Switch is in the PARK or HEAD position, the switch closes and sends a lights ON signal to the AUDIO ALARM MODULE. With the LH door open, a ground signal is provided through the LH DOOR JAMB SWITCH to the AUDIO ALARM MODULE. When both of these conditions are met simultaneously, the AUDIO ALARM MODULE activates the low-frequency warning alarm.

If the LH door is open, the Light Switch is in the PARK or HEAD position, and the ignition key is in the ignition switch, the high-frequency ignition key warning alarm will override the low-frequency headlight warning alarm.
