SUBJECT:
VEHICLE VIBRATION IN REVERSE GEAR
(REVISED ENGINE MOUNTS)

MODELS:
1991-92 GEO METRO WITH 1.0L ENGINE (RPO LP2) AND AUTO. TRANS.

CONDITION:

Some owners may comment about vehicle vibration with the transmission placed in reverse gear.

CAUSE:

Poor isolation between the engine/transaxle assembly and the vehicle structure.

CORRECTION:

Fluid filled engine mounts incorporated in some 1991 and in 1992 Metro's were replaced with a revised design beginning with early 1992 production. These 2nd design mounts are directly interchangeable with the earlier fluid filled design.

Vehicles equipped with automatic transmission with a confirmed diagnosis of reverse vibration and equipped with the 1st design engine mounts should have the mounts replaced with 2nd design mounts, P/N 30009342 RH, and 30009343 LH.
