Troubleshooting Hints - Starting System

1. Check the IGN Fuse with a fuse tester.

2. Check the ENGINE Fuse with a fuse tester.


3. Check the hydrometer eye that is built into the BATTERY before trouble shooting the Starter or Charging System.


^ Green Eye - BATTERY is charged.

^ Dark Eye - BATTERY is discharged. Recharge BATTERY.


^ Clear or Yellow Eye - BATTERY fluid is low. Replace BATTERY.

4. Check BATTERY for overcharge condition such as spewing of electrolyte or yellowing of BATTERY case.

5. Check that all STARTER assembly connections are clean and tight.

6. Check that grounds G100, G104, G105 and G200 are clean and tight.


7. Check ALT Fusible Link for continuity.

8. Check AM1 Fusible Link for continuity.
