Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation

Voltage is applied at all times to the normally open contacts of the REAR DEFOGGER RELAY from Fuse C-10. With the ignition switch in the "ON" position and the REAR DEFOGGER SWITCH ON, voltage is applied tot he coil of the REAR DEFOGGER RELAY and the Rear Defogger Indicator from Fuse C-2. Because the coil and the indicator are both permanently grounded at G201, the indicator lights and the REAR DEFOGGER RELAY is energized as soon as voltage is applied.

When the relay is energized, its contacts close, and voltage is applied to the REAR DEFOGGER grid from Fuse C-10. The REAR DEFOGGER grid is permanently grounded at G402 (Coupe) or G404 (Hatchback). The REAR DEFOGGER CONDENSER absorbs any switch pop which might occur.
