Backup Lamp: Description and Operation

Whenever the ignition switch is in the "ON" or "START" position, Battery voltage is applied through the BACK Fuse to the BACKUP LAMP SWITCH (Manual Transaxle) or the SHIFT LEVER BACKUP AND NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH (Automatic Transaxle). When the manual selector is placed in "R", the switch closes, and Battery voltage is applied to the Backup Lamps within the REAR COMBINATION LAMPS. The REAR COMBINATION LAMPS are permanently grounded through the JUNCTION BLOCK to G203.
