REPLACE
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. On models with ABS, remove ABS wheel speed sensor.
3. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
4. Unstake, then remove driveshaft nut and washer.
5. Remove ball joint pinch bolt, then pry ball joint from knuckle.
6. On models except sedan, pry inboard driveshaft joints from transaxle using a pry bar or large screwdriver, Fig. 10 .
7. On sedan models, remove drive axle as follows:
a. Pry lefthand side inboard driveshaft joint from transaxle using a large screwdriver.
b. Using a suitable soft mallet, tap at base of right inner joint to remove from intermediate driveshaft.
8. Remove drive axle assembly from steering knuckle.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Clean front wheel bearing seal, then apply grease to seal.
b. Check seal for breakage or deterioration, replace if necessary.
c. Install wheel side joint to steering knuckle, then the differential-side joint to the transaxle. Push drive axle into transaxle by hand until snap ring is seated in spline.
d. Tighten to specification.
e. Stake axle nut.
