Troubleshooting Hints - Starting System
PROCEDURE1. Check the hydrometer eye that is built into the Battery before troubleshooting the Starter or Charging System.
^ Green Eye - Battery is charged.
^ Dark Eye - Battery is discharged.
^ Clear or Yellow Eye - Battery fluid is low, replace Battery.
2. Check Battery for overcharge condition such as spewing of electrolyte or yellowing of Battery case.
3. Check that all Starter assembly connections are clean and tight.
4. Check that the Starter Relay is securely mounted into its connector in the Relay Block Cassette.
5. Check that G100, G101, G105, and G204 are clean and tight.
6. Check Fusible Link A for continuity.
7. Check AM1 Fusible Link with a fuse tester.
8. Check IGN Fuse with a fuse tester.
9. Before component replacement, check for poor connections at related component and in-line harness connector terminal connections.
