DTC 64
Diagnostic Chart:
Torque Convertor Clutch Circuit:
Circuit Description:
The TCC solenoid is used to engage the lockup clutch. The PCM will apply system voltage to turn the solenoid ON (energize) or remove voltage to turn it OFF (de-energize) to control the hydraulic pressure to the lockup relay valve within the transaxle. If the PCM determines a failure in either of the shift solenoid circuits, it will prevent TCC lockup by not turning ON the TCC solenoid, DTC 64 will set if either of the two following conditions are met:
^ Solenoid resistance is 8 ohms or lower (shorted circuit) when solenoid is commanded ON.
^ Solenoid resistance is 100 kilo ohms or higher (open circuit) when solenoid is commanded OFF.
Test Description: Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. This determines if the PCM is faulty.
2. This checks for a short to ground in the solenoid wiring.
3. This determines if there is an open in the wiring or if the solenoid is faulty.
Diagnostic Aids:
Check grounds on transaxle for a clean and tight connection.
Check for poor connections at component and inline harness connector terminal connections before replacing components. After repairs have been made, repeat the PCM OBD System Check to ensure system is functioning normally.
