FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT

PRELIMINARY STEPS
^ Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Service and Repair / Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
^ Loosen the Air Cleaner (ACL) hose clamp bolt (see image).
2. Four cap clips from ACL.
3. ACL hose and cap from engine compartment.
4. Two Evaporative Emission (EVAP) hoses from EVAP canister (see image).
5. One bolt and EVAP canister from EVAP canister bracket.
6. One bolt and fuel feed outlet hose from top of fuel filter.
7. One nut and fuel feed inlet pipe from bottom of fuel filter.
8. Two bolts and fuel filter from fuel filter bracket (see image).

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Fuel filter to fuel filter bracket; secure with two bolts. Tighten fuel filter bracket bolts to 4.9 Nm (43 lb. in.).
2. Fuel feed inlet pipe to bottom of fuel filter; secure with one nut. Tighten fuel feed inlet pipe nut to 30 Nm (22 lb. ft.).
^ Insert new gaskets onto fuel feed outlet hose-to-pipe connection.
3. Fuel feed outlet hose to top of fuel filter; secure with one bolt. Tighten fuel feed outlet hose bolt to 29 Nm (21 lb. ft.).
4. EVAP canister to EVAP canister bracket; secure with one bolt. Tighten EVAP canister bracket bolt to 20 Nm (15 lb. ft.).
5. Two EVAP hoses to EVAP canister; secure with one clamp.
6. ACL hose and cap to engine compartment; secure with four clips.
7. IAT sensor electrical connector.
8. Negative (-) battery cable. Tighten negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).

AFTER REPAIR CHECK
Turn ignition switch to "ON" and and momentarily connect a jumper between the underhood Data Link Connector (DLC) terminals "+B" and "FP" to pressurize the fuel system. Check for any fuel leaks.
