Compressor Replacement

Compressor Clutch Wiring Routing:

Remove or Disconnect

1. Discharge and recover refrigerant. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
2. Negative (-) battery cable.
3. Compressor clutch electrical connector.
4. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
5. Right front wheel.
6. Air guide panel.
7. Loosen idler pulley bolt and remove compressor drive belt from clutch pulley.
8. One bolt and discharge hose from compressor.
9. One bolt and suction hose from compressor.
10. Discard O-rings.
11. Three bolts and compressor from vehicle.
12. Cap all refrigerant line openings to keep out dirt and moisture.

Install or Connect

1. Compressor to compressor bracket. Secure with 3 bolts following proper torque sequence.

Important

^ Proper torque sequence is essential to prevent damage to the compressor or compressor bracket.

Tighten

^ Compressor bolts to 22.5-27.4 N.m. (16.5-20.1 lb. ft).

2. Compressor drive belt and adjust belt tension.
3. Compressor clutch electrical connector; secure wire using clamps.
4. Coat new discharge and suction hose O-rings with clean refrigerant oil.
5. Discharge and suction hoses to compressor; secure with two bolts.

Tighten

^ Compressor discharge and suction hose bolts to 9.8 N.m. (86.74 lb. in.).

6. Compressor drive belt and adjust belt tension.
7. Right-side air guide panel.
8. Right front wheel.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Negative (-) battery cable.
11. Evacuate and recharge air conditioning system. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
12. Operate A/C system and check for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Refrigerant Leak Testing.
