Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

Evaporator Assembly And Drain Hose (Exploded View):




Upper/Lower Evaporator Case Halves:






Remove or Disconnect

1. Discharge and recover refrigerant. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
2. Disable the SIR.
3. Negative (-) battery cable.
4. Blower case.
5. A/C amplifier and evaporator temperature sensor electrical connectors.
6. Refrigerant inlet and outlet pipes from evaporator case.
7. Drain hose from evaporator case.
8. Two mounting bolts, one nut and evaporator case from vehicle.
9. A/C amplifier from evaporator case by releasing two lower lock tabs and sliding amplifier upward to disengage from case.
10. Separate case halves by disengaging retaining clips.
11. Evaporator core from evaporator case.

Install or Connect

1. Evaporator core to case; secure upper and lower halves with retaining clips.
2. A/C amplifier to evaporator case.
3. Evaporator case to vehicle; secure with two mounting bolts and one nut.
4. Drain hose to evaporator case.
5. Refrigerant inlet and outlet pipes to evaporator case.
6. A/C amplifier and evaporator temperature sensor electrical connectors.
7. Blower case.
8. Enable the SIR.
9. Negative (-) battery cable.
10. Evacuate and recharge air conditioning system. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
11. Operate A/C system and check for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Refrigerant Leak Testing.
