Instrument Panel Support Member:
Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Disable the SIR.
3. Pull out instrument panel compartment while pushing its stopper from both left and right sides.
4. Two screws and instrument panel compartment.
5. Three bolts, three electrical connectors and PCM.
6. Gearshift control lever upper boot from console.
7. Six screws and console from vehicle.
8. Four screws, cigar lighter electrical connector and center console trim bezel.
9. Two screws and cup holder.
10. Five screws, two electrical connectors and radio.
11. Heater control unit.
12. Two screws and separate hood latch release handle.
13. Steering wheel and column.
14. One screw and left side instrument cluster lower cover.
15. Four screws and instrument cluster bezel.
16. Speedometer cable by pushing on plastic tab.
17. Four screws, three electrical connectors and instrument cluster.
18. Passenger inflator module. Refer to Dissabling the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System (SIR).
19. Disconnect following electrical connectors:
A. Right side of the instrument panel:
^ A/C amplifier (if equipped).
^ A/C amplifier thermistor (if equipped).
^ Blower motor and blower motor resistor.
^ Connector C205.
^ Dome light.
^ Door speaker (if equipped).
B. Left side of the instrument panel:
^ Door speaker (if equipped).
^ Junction block electrical connectors.
^ Main harness electrical connector (C200).
20. Antenna cable holddown loops.
21. Unclip and remove left and right A-pillar trim covers.
22. Seven bolts securing instrument panel center brace: Two located on each door jam A-pillar area; two bolts located at the bottom center of the instrument panel (near SDM) and another one near steering column mounting area.
2 3. One cover, one screw; upper center of instrument panel.
24. Two screws, lower left and right corners of instrument panel.
25. Instrument panel from vehicle.
Install or Connect
1. Position instrument panel in vehicle, secure with three screws. Replace upper center cover.
2. Instrument panel center brace; secure with seven bolts.
3. Left and right A-pillar trim covers.
4. Antenna cable through holddown loops.
5. All instrument panel electrical connectors.
6. Passenger inflator module. Refer to Dissabling the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint SIR System.
7. Instrument cluster, connect three electrical connectors and secure with four screws.
8. Speedometer cable.
9. Instrument cluster bezel trim panel, secure with four bolts.
10. Left and right instrument cluster lower covers, secure with two screws.
11. Steering column.
12. Hood latch release handle, secure with two screws.
13. Heater control unit.
14. Radio to instrument panel; secure with five screws and two electrical connectors.
15. Cup holder; secure with two bolts.
16. Center console trim bezel; secure with four bolts and reconnect cigar lighter electrical connector.
17. Console; secure with six screws.
18. Gearshift control lever upper boot to console (manual transaxle).
19. PCM; secure with three bolts and connect three electrical connectors.
20. Instrument panel compartment; secure with two screws.
21. Enable the SIR.
22. Negative (-) battery cable.
