Description:

NOTE: Before replacing the Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor the throttle lever screw and the throttle stop screw must be checked for evidence of tampering. Perform the following two inspections.

^ Open the throttle lever to the full open position and check that the yellow paint has not come off of the throttle lever screw.
^ Turn the resin cap of the throttle stop screw on the throttle body side with fingers and check that the entire cap is free from damage.

If any yellow paint has come off or if the resin cap is damaged, the ISC motor cannot be replaced. Instead the throttle body assembly must be replaced as a unit.

Removal Procedure
1. Let engine cool to ambient temperature.
2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
3. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector,
4. Disconnect the PCV hose from the Air Cleaner (ACL).
5. Disconnect the one bolt and the wing nut from the Air Cleaner (ACL) to the Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) unit.
6. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) from the Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) unit.
7. Disconnect the Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor electrical connector.
8. Remove the three screws and the ISC motor from the TBI unit.

Installation Procedure

Important: Do not supply electricity to the ISC motor terminals before it is installed onto the throttle body or damage to the motor may occur.

1. Install the ISC motor to TBI unit with the three screws. Tighten the ISC motor screws to 2.8 to 4.0 Nm (24 to 36 lb. in.).
2. Connect the ISC motor electrical connector.
3. Connect the PCV hose to the Air Cleaner (ACL).
4. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the Air Cleaner (ACL) to the TBI unit.
6. Secure the Air Cleaner (ACL) with the one bolt and the wing nut. Tighten the ACL bracket bolt to 10 Nm (7.5 lb. ft.).
7. Connect the negative (-) battery cable. Tighten the negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 5.5 Nm (4 lb. ft.).
8. Start the engine.
9. Run the engine to normal operating temperature and check that the idle speed is within the specified idle range. Refer to Idle Speed Inspection. Testing and Inspection
