Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Before attempting to repair the clutch, transaxle or related linkages for any reason other than mechanical failure, the condition and probable cause should be identified. Clutch and manual transaxle failures are revealed by shifting difficulties such as excessive shifting effort, gear clash or gear grinding. When any of these conditions occur, the following checks and adjustments should be made before disassembling the clutch and/or transaxle for repairs.
